Faqs and Tips

Alabaster’s Rolls Royce Limousines –  classic & antique limousines, since 1982

  • Regardless of the type of limousine you would like to hire, stretch, mini-bus, antique or classic, be sure that the company you are considering is licensed and insured, and can provide references from clients. Alabaster's is licensed with all Virginia state regulators.
Check references. According to the National Limousine Association, 20% of all limousine companies go out of business each year. Alabaster's has been around since 1982, and has done over 5000 weddings.
  • Keep in mind that antique or classic means vintage (old). You may have read articles about the notorious unreliability of antique vehicles; unfortunately fifty-year-old exotic vehicles are no different. Alabaster’s Rolls and Bentley limousines have been re-engineered with General Motors' engines and drive trains, assuring unparalleled reliability.
  • Wedding packages differ from company to company. Ask for a signed and valid service contract that details the exact services you expect on your special day. In addition, you should never pay the full fare in advance. A deposit of 50% in advance is the industry standard.
  • The cheapest is rarely the best. According to the National Limousine Association's Consumer Guide to Purchasing Professional Transportation, if there is one thing consumers learn is that in the limousine business, the cheapest way is not usually the most reliable. At Alabaster's, we charge competitive rates that ensure beautiful, clean, reliable cars and impeccable service from our excellent chauffeurs.
  • Reserve early and plan for additional time:

Because of very limited supply of antique and vintage limousines, book well in advance since these vehicles book quickly, especially during peak times such as proms, homecomings, and weddings in the spring and fall months. Some Rolls Royce weddings are booked up to a year in advance. Remember that most limousine operators require that you book the limousine for a minimum time period. Limousine companies cannot guarantee that your vehicle will be available past the agreed-on time, so make sure you book enough time.

If you are going to hire a classic or antique limousine, consider the distance that you may be traveling. Frequently, antique cars move slower than the speed limit. Again, you may need to consider adding extra time.

One of the reasons for getting a classic or antique Rolls Royce or Bentley limousine is for the photo opportunities, and photos ALWAYS take longer than anticipated.
  • Be sure that you are comparing apples to apples. Many limousine companies do not include gratuity, mileage and travel and/or maintenance in their initial quote. These add-on charges can add up to be an expensive surprise at the end of your day. Remember to inquire about those cost up-front and it’s customary for a 20% gratuity to be automatically added to your bill. With Alabaster’s the quote you receive is what you will pay.
  • Some companies charge from the time the vehicle leaves their garage until its return. Ask when your time begins. With Alabaster’s, time starts from the time we pick you up, not when we leave our garage.
  • Stretch limos come in various sizes: 6, 8, 10, and 12 passenger limousines are the most common. They can barely accommodate that number of people, and no more. Six-passenger limousines can accommodate six people, not seven. Classic vehicles typical seat 3 passengers in the rear and one upfront with the driver. Remember to ask about seating capacity, and stick with it.
  • If you are preparing directions for your guests, always send a copy to your limousine company.
  • The use of alcoholic beverages is not legal in most locations. This is ALWAYS true for proms, where state inspectors frequently search limousines for contraband alcohol.
